The hotel is set up high and the entrance is facing the train station and bus stops. We booked one of the atrium rooms, but was given a much larger room on the first floor and we discovered that the atrium rooms were being refurbished, and according to one of the many workmen we saw, the whole hotel is receiving a makeover that will take a few months to complete. The room itself was large and had a shower, but no bath. All the facilities you needed were there and the service staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast had enough variety to suit everyone and, again, the staff were pleasant and helpful. We ate in the bar area on the first night and the food, although a bit limited, was very nice. The second day we travelled to Kendal by bus, so ate there, and the third night the local Indian restaurant was recommended, so we tried this too. The hotel reception staff were very helpful and pleasant and helped with every query we had. Like other reviews on here, we also found the steam room out of action, but we still had the pool, jacuzzi and steam room to use. I did telephone reception a couple of days before travelling to ask about disabled parking, as in an email I’d received stating that parking was on a first come basis and was told that there are a few disabled spaces near the entrance, but I did find that vans and other non-disability vehicles were parked there too, but we still managed to find a space. Also, while speaking about the parking I explained that my wife had recently fallen and was on crutches, so the receptionist said she would allocate us a room near to the lift, which was very thoughtful and kind. We enjoyed our break away here and would go again.

If,like me, you appreciate country House Hotels, The Grange will match and probably exceed your expectations. Set elevated above the town, it commands stunning views over Morecambe Bay. January may not have been a good time to explore the grounds, but it is easy to appreciate how delightful they would be in warmer seasons. Had it been later in the year,I feel sure the front terrace would be very inviting for a drink or light meal. Inside, the building is bright and cheerful with a simple but stylish bar area. The seating arranged over several rooms, allowing for areas suitable for those wishing to quietly read a book. My room was traditionally furnished, and I enjoyed views over the town. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. Although, if you are a staying as a couple, you might find it a little snug. Without exception, the staff were friendly and helpful, and importantly, genuine in wanting guests to be comfortable. The spa area, with its pool, hot tub, steam room, and sauna, was a great place to relax. I was lucky enough to enjoy a deeply relaxing massage. I believe the highlight of my 5 night stay was the food. Breakfast is a mixture of buffet and table service. It's as good and probably better than many similar hotels. If you fancy a change to the usual, full English. I recommend the American pancakes, also the haddock with poached egg. Bar meals were equally good, as was the afternoon tea. For fine dining, my meals in the Carriage Restaurant were exceptional, and I recommend you try it at least once. I will certainly be staying again, hopefully when the weather is warmer and the days longer.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Grange Hotel and I must say it was absolutely perfect. From the moment I arrived, the staff were welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. The room was spacious, immaculately clean, and beautifully designed, with thoughtful touches that made it feel like a home away from home. The bed was incredibly comfortable, guaranteeing a restful night's sleep, and the bathroom was luxurious. The hotel’s location was ideal, close to all the attractions yet tucked away enough to offer a peaceful retreat. I had the chance to dine at the on-site restaurant, and the food was exceptional—delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. The experience at the Spa was incredible, especially the Jacuzzi. Overall, my experience at The Grange Hotel was flawless. It truly exceeded my expectations, and I can’t wait to return. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a relaxing, luxurious getaway.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were made to feel comfortable. The staff went over and above to make sure we had everything we needed. It was my Mams birthday (reason for the trip) and they went to the next level with her room having rose petals and Swan towels as well as an upgrade! My own room, the classic double we had originally booked was absolutely stunning. Honestly, the only difference was the view cos wow! We had 4 meals on site; afternoon tea, dinner, breakfast and then lunch. Every single meal was absolutely delicious! My Dad is coeliac and this was not a problem. He had an abundance of choice at each meal time and nothing was off limits! We can not wait to book up again and be back soon!!

Situated on the outskirts of Grange over Sands. Plenty of parking, though the welcome e-mail warned about getting there early as it was first come first serve. The actual building is grand Victorian Gothic and looked recently re decorated. Staff seemed friendly and professional when checking in and out . My late booked single occupancy room was large, clean and well decorated. I even had a bath. Everything seemed to work. Breakfast was OK, with a basic buffet in what looked like a ballroom . This grand old hotel was situated in its own grounds, with the railway station just across the road. I really can't think of anything negative to say about the place.
